A passionate photographer has a lot of equipment and if you want take pictures outdoors, you need to carry all that stuff around with you. So what kind of bag to choose for it?
I am very happy with my backpack from Lowepro. It’s the Flipside 400 AW model and it does a quite good job for me. There is enough place for my Sigma 120-400mm, the Sigma 105mm, the Pentax 12-14mm, the Tamron 18-250mm and of course my camera body.
With all that stuff inside there is still enough place for additional stuff like battery charger, SD-cards, filters, a second accu, lens cleaner, a book, a mobile device and a water bottle.
I specially prefer the hideaway tripod holder to secure a tripod or monopod to backpack. The Flipside 400 AW includes a built-in all weather cover, which is also quite useful if you have to put your bag on dirty or wet ground.
The best feature for me is the back-entry compartment that provides good access to my gear when setting up. With the padded waistbelt secured, my gear is quickly reached by rotating the entire bag to the front, offering hands-free use. That’s what I really love.
With all my gear in it and the Manfrotto 680B on it I carry approx. 6 kg (13,2 lbs) around with me.
